Calgary Flood 2013

IMG_3223

In those last few days before E was born, the Bow River and the Elbow River were swollen with rain water and mountain run-off.  They called it the hundred years flood, meaning a flood like this only comes every hundred years.  The city was lush green and beautiful, but something like 70,000 residents were evacuated from Calgary and the neighboring communities.  We took these pictures from Crescent Heights, overlooking downtown Calgary.IMG_3225 IMG_3230 IMG_3232IMG_3233 IMG_3235 IMG_3236 IMG_3237 IMG_3241 IMG_3248 IMG_3249 IMG_3251
